Galatians 1:1-24
The gospel is the message that we are more evil than we could ever imagine, but also more loved
and accepted than we could ever hope. God accepts us because of Jesus’ work on the cross, not
our religious merit. God transformed Paul from being a persecutor of God’s people to a preacher
of God’s message. Shocking. We are set free by the shocking mercy of God.

Galatians 2:1-21
The gospel creates unity in the church; we freely welcome people that are not like us. The goal is
not to politely endure sitting next to a “different person” on a Sunday morning; the goal is to
deeply love one another as we share our lives for the glory of God. Living a radical life for God is
not possible through our own strength—it’s only possible by God living and working through us.

Galatians 3:1-14
Many believers subtly think that they initially came to faith in Christ through the gospel but then
they have to grow in Christ through their own moral efforts. That’s not true! We are justified by
our faith in Jesus but also sanctified by our faith in Him. The gospel sets us free from our sin, it
demonstrates how much God treasures us, and provides the Spirit that renews our hearts.

Galatians 3:15-25
None of us can keep God’s law. That’s the reason why God sent a Savior! God’s law is designed
to show us just how much we need His grace to rescue us; our salvation depends solely on God,
not our abilities to obey the law. When we come to faith in Jesus, we are set free with new
hearts that want to obey God.

Galatians 3:26-4:7
The gospel creates supernatural unity, removes our shame, sets us free from slavery to false
identities, and gives us a wondrous new identity: we are adopted sons and daughters of God.

Galatians 4:8-31
Apart from the gospel we will be under the slavery of an idol; no amount of religious activity can
change that truth. Through the power of God, we can find true freedom and grow in Christ
despite our failures, disappointments, or hardships.

Galatians 5:1-15
Verse 1 says that “For freedom Christ has set us free…” ‘Freedom is both the means and the end
of God’s purpose for us. The gospel makes us free to run after God and experience His joy.

Galatians 5:16-26
Slavery is not life as God intended it; we were made to live by the Spirit. The Holy Spirit
transforms our hearts and enables us to produce fruit that displays the glory of God. We have
been set free to live.

humble and bold. We need one another in order to become who God is calling us to be.
